A ceiling worth looking up at
A dated bathroom with a heavy beam and a builder ceiling, re-clad in knotty pine plank with recessed lights set into it. Nothing else in the room moved.
One surface, whole room
Not every job needs a gut. This bathroom had a fine tub, fine tile and a ceiling that was dragging the whole room down — a flat builder ceiling running into a heavy stained beam, with a fan light in the middle of it.
The fix was one surface. Knotty pine plank went up across the whole ceiling, taken right into the beam so the two read as one thing instead of arguing. Recessed cans went in at the same time, which is the part that actually changes how the room feels — the old fixture was lighting the ceiling and nothing else.
Everything else in the room stayed exactly where it was.
