Down to the studs

A hall bath stripped to the framing: rotten subfloor out, new insulation in the exterior wall, a new tub set and levelled, and new board up ready for tile.

What we ran into

Taking a bath back to the studs is not always the plan going in, but once the surround was off the framing it was the obvious call here — the exterior wall had almost no insulation left in it, and the subfloor around the old tub had been wet long enough to stain through.

So it all came out: tub, board, wiring for the old fixture, and what was left of the insulation. New batts went into the exterior bay, the tub was set and levelled before anything closed up around it, and the walls went back with new board and a fresh vent.
